Don't be fooled by a cheap price per bag on mortar, it may cost you a lot of money
Some mortars sold in this market have less coverage than the Masonry Cement we sell. When selecting mortar be sure to consider coverage as well as the price per bag so you don't get taken advantage of. Example: We carry Texas Lehigh Gray Masonry Cement at AHI Supply A bag of Texas Lehigh Masonry Cement can be mixed with 3 cubic feet of masonry sand (about 19 shovelfulls) to yield a total of 4 cubic feet of mortar per bag * Poor Coverage Mortar sold by some other companies Some mortars in our market can be mixed with no more than 2.3 cubic feet of sand (about 15 shovels of sand) to yield a total of about 3.3 cubic feet of mortar per bag* How does this affect you ? Our Mortar * Our customers tell us it takes 6.5 bags of our mortar (6.5x4=26 cubic feet of mortar)to lay 1000 brick. If you have 20000 brick on your project, you will need 130 bags (6.5x20)of our mortar to complete it. The total cubic feet of mortar required will be about 520. (130 bags X 4 cubic feet total per bag) If our price was $ 6.00 per bag, those 130 bags of our mortar would cost you $ 780.00 Their Mortar* You will need about 158 bags of mortar (520 cubic feet of mortar divided by 3.3 total cu.ft. per bag) If their price was also $6.00 per bag, those 158 bags of their mortar would cost $ 948.00 If they were $5.75 per bag those 158 bags would cost $ 908.50 In fact their mortar would have to be more than a $1.00 less per bag than ours before it's net cost would be as low as ours!
